It’s been a hot and eventful summer, as we look forward to an equally eventful 2017. It will be our 25th consecutive year of publishing Metropolitan Corporate Counsel. Let’s put that in context. MCC’s launch coincided with the launch of the European Single Market. With that, 34 million people and businesses could travel and trade freely across 12 EU countries – including the UK – with not so much as a thought of Brexit.
This issue reflects the essence of MCC as a premier venue for articles and interviews tailored to the specific needs of corporate law departments. You’ll find the second installment of our general counsel roundtable series on risk led by Clifford Chance. Our special section focuses on the hospitality sector as it reckons with massive structural, financial and generational change. Other pieces deliver useful information and insights in areas as varied as insider cyberthreats, boardroom diversity, remediation and compliance, the tools for change in the federal rules, GC-Board relations, information governance, the power to dismiss indictments, and preparing for the post-Brexit immigration landscape. Our In-House Ops section continues to thrive with pieces on the relative roles of CLOs and CCOs, controlling e-discovery costs, the inspiring ambition of the NetApp legal department, and a primer on how to get more value from outside counsel.
As always, your comments are welcome. We especially would love to hear about your involvement with initiatives such as the Thirty Percent Coalition’s push for more diversity in the boardroom.
