Williams Kastner Attorney Addresses Lawsuits Emerging From Chinese Imports

Greg Shelton, Of Counsel in the Seattle office of Williams Kastner, is the author of an article published in the February 2009 edition of the IADC Committee Newsletter. The article, "Made in China: Consumer Product Lawsuits Imported to the United States," details the recent recalls by the U.S. Consumer Products Safety Commission (CPSC) of several Chinese imports, due to the discovery of poisonous chemicals. The recalls, Shelton explains, have led to an uptick in lawsuits filed against American companies that import goods from China because, "tort law in China has not advanced to a point where there is meaningful recourse available to injured in that country. Thus, American importers are both the front line of defense, and the front line of attack."
