Jonathan L. Lewis has joined McGuireWoods’ Antitrust and Trade Regulation Department as a partner in Washington, D.C., bringing 17 years of experience advising clients on antitrust and commercial litigation matters, merger reviews, and managing business risk.

Lewis represents clients in antitrust issues involving price-fixing, tying, exclusive dealing, predatory pricing and monopolization, including claims asserted as part of class actions. He also provides counsel on merger clearances for clients in the healthcare, life sciences, information technology and industrial equipment sectors, among other industries.

His experience includes advising multiple businesses throughout the entire merger clearance process, including a leading industrial equipment manufacturer during its $8.6 billion acquisition of a mining equipment manufacturer. He has also represented multiple businesses in antitrust class actions, including a leading steel manufacturer, and a leading integrated healthcare delivery system, among others. Lewis, who comes to McGuireWoods from BakerHostetler, is a member of Law360’s 2016 Competition Editorial Advisory Board and is a frequent commentator on antitrust and competition-related matters.

“Jonathan is a highly respected antitrust lawyer who has built strong relationships with clients across a wide range of industries,” said Amy Manning, chair of McGuireWoods’ Antitrust and Trade Regulation Department. “He is an important addition to our practice and will strengthen our antitrust capabilities in Washington.”

“Jonathan’s impressive antitrust experience and in-depth knowledge dealing with antitrust enforcement agencies enhances our Washington team to the benefit of our clients,” said Todd Mullins, managing partner of the firm’s D.C. office. “We’re delighted to welcome him.”

McGuireWoods’ global Antitrust and Trade Regulation Department includes leading practitioners experienced in civil, criminal and regulatory matters in the United States and Europe. Chambers USA recognized the firm for its antitrust work in its 2016 guide, citing its “notable experience in international and multidistrict cases” and “solid litigation skills in civil and criminal antitrust cases and government investigations.” The firm also was recognized as a leader in international trade law in Chambers and Partners’ 2016 Global Guide.

“McGuireWoods lawyers have earned reputations as innovative problem-solvers in antitrust matters — especially in the courtroom,” Lewis said. “I look forward to building on this strong platform to continue to help clients achieve their strategic objectives.”
