Akin Gump announced that Kambiz Larizadeh is to join the firm in London as a partner in its dispute resolution practice. Mr. Larizadeh, who focuses on high-value, cross-border commercial litigation and international arbitration matters, comes to Akin Gump from Addleshaw Goddard.

As part of his disputes practice, Mr. Larizadeh acts for both claimants and defendants in matters that often involve allegations of misconduct and fraud. His clients have included international corporates, major financial institutions, media and technology companies, airlines and high-net-worth individuals.

Mr. Larizadeh has broad litigation experience, and he has advised on a diverse range of commercial disputes, mandatory and prohibitive injunctions, international and domestic freezing injunctions and anti-suit proceedings in support of domestic litigation and arbitration. He has also acted in several “bet the company” litigations and arbitrations and has particular experience with regard to Russia and the Middle East as well as advising on a number of high-profile European matters.

“The demand from international clients looking for litigation support is on the increase, as is the demand for international arbitration work. Our team in London has worked on some very significant matters in 2016, and the addition of Kambiz will allow us to continue to expand both in volume and scope the work we do for our clients,” said Akin Gump chairperson Kim Koopersmith.

Mr. Larizadeh’s arrival is another step in the continued expansion of Akin Gump’s international disputes practice, which spans the firm’s offices in the United States, Europe, Asia and the Middle East.

“Akin Gump’s disputes team continues to strengthen, and the arrival of Kambiz—following that of Hamish Lal earlier in the year—will complement the capabilities that we have been developing, in particular in support of our corporate, investment funds and financial restructuring clients. We are delighted he is joining us,” said Akin Gump litigation practice head Stephen M. Baldini.

Mr. Larizadeh added, “Akin Gump’s global dispute resolution capabilities are exceptional. The firm provides a tremendous platform for me to continue to build out my practice and to give our sophisticated commercial clients access to the type of high-quality and strategic international disputes advice they need and expect, and in the jurisdictions they require it."

Mr. Larizadeh was called to the Bar in 1999. He received an M.A. in law from Girton College, Cambridge.
